I'm sure you heard last year that, “sitting is the new smoking." Sitting for more than 9 hours a day was associated with a 16% increase in mortality (so that's why my watch keeps reminding me to stand!).
We've also heard that we need more protein as we age. But just eating lots of meat and standing up will not protect your muscle. Protein in food doesn't magically become human muscle.
We need to DO SOMETHING to convert the protein in our food into the protein that builds and maintains the lean tissues in our body. More studies are recognizing the benefits of Snacktivity™ to maintain muscle mass. While all types of movement can help, strength-based activities (like squats) may do a better job than walking. This is good news for older folks - and anyone who doesn't have time for a 90-minute session at the gym! Short bouts of lunges, jumping jacks and dancing (fun!) throughout the day can make huge improvements to both mobility and heart health!
I'll get back to you soon to discuss your needs.
