29 December 2025
Every year, we promise to become our “best self” through serious New Year’s resolutions. Then life happens, and resolve quietly turns into resignation. This year, I’m approaching things differently. I know consistency is the real key to success, whether it’s changing eating habits, doing physical therapy, or keeping a gratitude journal.
For now, I want to zoom out. Big-picture thinking can help us find our rhythm. These are the ideas I’ll be mindful of as I head into the new year.
Practice joyful sufficiency
When we’re taught that “more is better,” enough becomes a radical idea. Enough food. Enough choice. Enough variety. Focusing on quality and enjoyment often reveals that less truly can be more. Happiness tends to show up when we stop chasing excess, or even “optimal,” and start honoring what’s adequate.
Choose addition over restriction
I don’t believe in subtracting joy to gain health, especially when there are so many delicious ways to enhance nutrition. It might look like one extra vegetable, a plant-based swap you genuinely enjoy, or a single habit that frees up time instead of stealing it.
Addition feels abundant, not punitive, which makes it far easier to sustain and build upon.
Start small, stay kind
January doesn’t require reinvention. It needs kindness, consistency, and good soup (which, incidentally, can hold an impressive amount of vegetables). This year, take a victory lap for what you accomplished in 2025. Learning from mistakes counts, too. When we focus on what’s working, we tend to get more of it.
So what rhythms would you like to bring into your life? Meatless Mondays, or something beyond? A weekly planning meeting with yourself to prepare for the food realities of the week ahead? Choosing seasonal produce for better flavor and value? Making space to connect with others or learn something new?
Whatever your plans, I’m wishing you a happy and healthy New Year!
I’ll be here to support, connect, and encourage.
I'll get back to you soon to discuss your needs.
